Iran latest film ‘Subdue’ to premiere

Iranian latest title ‘Subdue’ by Hamid Nematollah is set to open in the Iranian theaters during the holy fasting month of Ramadan.

‘Subdue’ follows “the story of woman played by Leila Hatami who is in need of financial and emotional support after her divorce. She meets a so-called right guy, but things did not unfold as expected,” a movie synopsis read.

Hatmai’s performance in the film won her a Crystal Simorgh for Best Actress in a Leading Role at the 2017 edition of Fajr Film Festival in Iran , splitting the award with Merila Zarei who appeared in ‘Under the Smoky Roof’.

In a related event, a poster for the film designed by Mohammad Ruhol-Amin was revealed earlier on Saturday.

The public screenings of the film will begin after the Laylat al-Qadr (Night of Power/Decree). In Iran, a series of nights falling on 19th, 21th and 23th of the holy month of Ramadan is commemorated as the Laylat al-Qadr --the occasion when the holy Quran was revealed to the Prophet of Islam, Muhammad (PBUH).
